Yes, I did have to look up the spelling of the title…

Anyhow, I ran up the road to Savannah recently to check out the location of a WEDDING I’ll be shooting in a few weeks! So excited about the opportunity, but I know I’ll be sweating buckets when the day comes. I keep telling myself, “It’s family. It’s going to be small and intimate.” And yet, I know it’s a once in a lifetime day for people I love and I just want to do a great job for them.

While I was there, we did a quick engagement shoot. You’ll see more of these pretty faces in a few weeks!

Some of my recent and upcoming shoots involve dogs. I love the spontaneity they provide since they couldn’t care less about the camera. On the other hand, it does add yet another element to consider as I snap away. I came away from this shoot with a handful of “almost great”  photos with thier beautiful dog. I’ll keep working on it. In the meantime, I’m happy to have gotten some good shots of the humans in this fun family.

Mom shines when she’s interacting with her baby boy.

You can just see mom’s great smile in the corner of this one.

Gotta give daddy some love, too…

Despite my comments in a recent post, there’s no denying that my girls got a lot of their physical traits from me (for better or worse), so I like to point out to them the features that they got from daddy…dimples, ears, loooong thick lashes. They were not lucky enough to inherit their dad’s baby blues, but CM has already learned by example how to use those lashes to her advantage.

Well, a little bit country and little bit rock n’ roll. Check out 11 week old Miss K’s shoes…

Naturally, after a few wardrobe changes, some of the best pictures were the naked ones…

Lastly, I just love how tiny she looks here.

Can this really be my child? According to her last doctor visit, VC’s in the 90th percentile for height and 25th for weight! And yet, she can’t seem to eat enough. That part she probably got from me. At almost eight months – so hard to believe she’s already eight months! – she’s healthy and happy, and that’s all that really matters. That, and the fact that she sleeps pretty reliably from about 8pm to 6 or 7 am. In her crib. Amen to that! Recently she figured out how to clap and is so proud of herself that she can’t stop. And, yes, the sound of “dada” has T grinning from ear to ear every time he hears it. At first I was in denial…”I think that was more of a Ba, or Ga….” To compensate, she blesses me with more slobbery kisses. “Kiss” is one of the words she appears to recognize, along with milk, change and tickle. The essentials in a young life.

On the big girl front, CM seems to be moving away from the afternoon nap. A moment of silence, please. I am in mourning over this. Still trying to enforce it at home, but she was throwing fits about going to preschool and we finally deduced that it was because she didn’t want to nap or be forced to hang out “with the babies.” A few emails were exchanged, and now that she gets to go to do crafts after lunch, all is well in preschool land again. I, on the other hand, don’t know how I’ll ever squeeze a phone call, shower, or quiet moment into our “mommy days” again. Alas, my mommy days with the big girl are numbered as Kindergarten is just around the corner. So I’ll put up with being (even moreso than usual) dirty, tired and out of touch while I savor my days with her.
